Course Overview
This instructor-led SAFe® Release Train Engineer (RTE) course (offered in person or live online) prepares experienced Agile practitioners to lead and support Agile Release Trains (ARTs) within the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe). Tuition includes access to SAFe Studio resources and the SAFe® RTE certification exam. The course focuses on the RTE’s role as a servant leader and facilitator, emphasizing Program Increment (PI) planning, coordination across teams, and continuous improvement. Participants learn how to manage dependencies, support alignment, and coach teams and stakeholders to enable consistent value delivery in complex environments. At the completion of this course, participants will be able to:
- Serve as a servant leader and coach for Agile Release Trains (ARTs) within the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe)
- Facilitate Program Increment (PI) Planning and ART events, including team breakouts, plan reviews, risk management (ROAM), and confidence votes
- Prepare and coordinate PI Planning across teams, locations, and time zones
- Apply Lean-Agile principles to improve flow, alignment, and predictability
- Manage dependencies, risks, and impediments across multiple teams
- Foster collaboration among teams, Product Management, and leadership
- Use metrics to monitor performance and support better outcomes
- Lead effective PI execution and support ongoing delivery
- Promote continuous improvement and operational excellence across the ART

Exam Information
Exam name – SAFe® 6 Release Train Engineer Exam
Exam format – Multiple choice (one answer) or multiple select (2-3 answers)
Exam delivery – Web-based (single-browser), closed book, no outside assistance, timed
Exam access – Candidates can access to the exam within the SAFe Community Platform upon completion of your SAFe® Release Train Engineer course .
Exam duration – Once the exam begins, candidates have 120 minutes (2 hours) to complete the exam.
Number of questions – 60
Passing score – RTE6 exam = 78%
Language – English
Exam cost – First exam attempt is included as part of the course registration fee if the exam is taken within 30 days of course completion. Each retake attempt costs $50.
Retake policy – Second attempt on exam (first retake) can be done immediately after first attempt. Third attempt requires a 10-day wait. Fourth attempt requires a 30-day wait.

State boards of accountancy have final authority on the acceptance of individual courses for CPE credit.
